Summer is here, and the weather is warming up ! And that means picnics, bonfires, camping, hanging out at the beach, and family & friend time together. Here are a couple examples of some decorations you can make with your lawn chairs and coolers to personalize them. Then you'll be able to spot them in a crowd! The lawn chairs today are made out of nylon, but no t a nylon that works well with heat. So it is not recommended to use heat transfer vinyl on your lawn chairs, because it coul d melt the fabric. You can, however, use standar d Oracal outdoor vinyl on your lawn chairs! In the first section, I show some standard basic fo lding chairs with Oracal vinyl on them. Some are just personalized, and on the green chair I put a cute silhouette of a tractor to add a little character.
You can use a hair dryer to help the vinyl adhere to the fabric better - a hair dryer does not get as hot as an iron. You could put a name on the chair, a cute design of a favorite thing, or a nickname. I show a blue chair that says "Dad" and green chairs that have names. For the first pink chair, I layered vinyl to create a cute Hello Kitty, which is very popular with girls, and on the second pink chair I applied a Princess. Next I have two matching chairs that have a couple's name - so if they have matching chairs, they know who's is who's.
The next example is lawn chairs that have been painted with an acrylic paint in different colors. I added vinyl to them in a color to match the other chairs. I put the last name along the back vertically, and put the first names on the front of the seat.
Coolers are another great thing to decorate, and c an be done with standard outdoor vinyl - I like to use the Oracal brand. The first is a set of drinking coolers with a monogram on the side of them. This would work great for a family get together or potluck. You can identify your coolers quickly.

The decorating also adds to the co olers, making them look fancier. On the large blue cooler, I decorated with simp le summer words that would be fun for the party person. I have "Sun!, Party!, It's 5:00 Somewhere" , Beer!, Babes! And Beach!. This would be great idea if you attend a lot of summer activities. I just used basic white vinyl, but could easily be decorated with many fun colors.
The next examples are some nice folded beach chai rs. I put nice summer time theme pictures on the chairs. I just used basic outdoor vinyl - I didn't want to risk melting the fabric with heat transfer vinyl. The first chair has palm trees, and the sec ond chair has flip flops, a beach ball and the words "summer time".
The Large red cooler just shows a great easy way to personalize your cooler, so you can tell it apart from the rest in the group.
